Gesa Power House Theatre opera Live Cinema: "The Queen of Spades"
Gesa Power House Theatre
$15 Adults, $10 Students
The 2019 Live Cinema Series continues at Gesa Power House Theatre with a screening of the current Royal Opera House production of "The Queen of Spades" on Sunday, February 17 at 2:00 p.m. This production is filmed live in London and rebroadcast internationally to select screens. In Tchaikovsky’s intense opera of obsession and the supernatural, Gherman is caught between the woman he loves and a destructive fixation. "The Queen of Spades" is based on a short story by Pushkin, and comes to the Royal Opera House in a new production that has already garnered five-star reviews in Amsterdam. The production is set in 1890, the year of the opera’s premiere. In his study, Tchaikovsky imagines the opera into life as his own story, its characters giving voice to his unfulfilled desires. This is an engrossing portrayal of a tortured creative artist and a gripping piece of gothic storytelling. This screening runs approximately 3 hours 30 minutes including an onscreen introduction and one intermission. "The Queen of Spades" is performed in Russian with English surtitles. The cast includes Aleksandrs Antonenko and Eva-Maria Westbroek and is conducted by Antonio Pappano, Music Director of The Royal Opera. The Live Cinema Series broadcasts offer audiences an equivalent to the best seat in the house, with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, interviews and incredibly detailed close-ups of performers. Beer, wine, popcorn, and snacks will be available for purchase, and may be taken into the theater. Reserved seating tickets ($15 Adults, $10 Students) will go on sale to the public on Thursday, January 10, online at www.phtww.com or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500.

Gesa Power House Theatre opera Live Cinema: "La Traviata"
Gesa Power House Theatre
$15 Adults, $10 Students
The 2019 Live Cinema Series continues at Gesa Power House Theatre with a screening of the current Royal Opera House production of "La Traviata" on Sunday, March 10 at 2:00 p.m. This production is filmed live in London and rebroadcast internationally to select screens. Richard Eyre's beautiful production provides the perfect setting for Giuseppe Verdi's opera about a courtesan who sacrifices all for love. From the thrill of unexpected romance to a heartbreaking reconciliation that comes too late. Alfredo falls in love in with the courtesan Violetta in glamorous Paris society, but underneath the surface run darker undercurrents, leading to a tragic ending. The opera’s wealth of melodies includes the famous Brindisi and the exuberant "Sempre libera" – both showing the lyricism of Italian opera at its most immediately appealing. Richard Eyre’s production for The Royal Opera brings out all the emotional color, from the giddy discovery of love, through painful confrontation to the inevitable conclusion. Lavish period sets and costumes enhance the reality of a moving story based on true life. The cast of this production includes Ermonela Jaho as Violetta, Charles Castronovo as Alfredo Germont, and Plácido Domingo as Giorgio Germont. The Royal Opera House cinema broadcasts offer audiences an equivalent to the best seat in the house, with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, interviews and incredibly detailed close-ups of performers. This screening runs approximately 3 hours 35 minutes including an onscreen introduction and two intermissions. "La Traviata" is performed in Italian with English surtitles. Beer, wine, popcorn, and snacks will be available for purchase, and may be taken into the theater. Gesa Power House Theatre orchestral, rock Seattle Rock Orchestra - Led Zeppelin
Gesa Power House Theatre
$50
The Seattle Rock Orchestra (SRO) returns to Gesa Power House Theatre to play the music of Led Zeppelin on Saturday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. Seattle Rock Orchestra dives deep into Led Zeppelin’s discography, performing songs from the surprisingly folky Led Zeppelin III, as well songs from the mature heavy rock of Led Zeppelin IV. Featured songs include “Going To California,” “Immigrant Song,” and of course, the one and only: “Stairway to Heaven.” Seattle Rock Orchestra utilizes strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and rotating cast of exciting guest vocalists to deliver tribute shows unlike any other. Each SRO show juxtaposes a dynamic plethora of possibilities: the infectious energy of a dance party with a classy night out at the symphony; searing rock solos with intimate orchestral moments of staggering beauty; fan favorite sing-alongs with lesser known 'deep cuts,' all combining to create a fun yet profoundly moving night out that honors the featured artist's lasting legacy. Reserved seating tickets will go on sale to the public on Monday, February 4, online or by calling the box office at 509-529-6500.
